This design begins with the type of positive-negative patterning found in Indonesian batik fabrics. A radial motif is isolated within repeating circles, then layered over a back filled with another sarong-style figure. As the pattern takes over the whole field, it approaches the elaboration of a traditional carpet. The simplicity of the circles lets it feel more modern or exotic depending on the setting, in plum-brown with rose, celadon, and white gold accents.
